Endocrine Imaging


Endocrine Imaging is the radiology subspecialty devoted to the visualization of the endocrine system (hypothalamus, pituitary gland, thyroid gland, parathyroid gland, adrenal glands, pineal body, and pancreas) and the reproductive organs (ovaries and testes).  A wide range of imaging modalities (including Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, Digital Radiography (X-RAY), angiography, and Interventional Radiology are used to (1) assess function, (2) locate, evaluate and measure the known or suspected lesions or tumors, and (3) biopsy with image-guidance suspicious lesions or tumors.

UDMI performs the following endocrine imaging exams:

  • Thyroid ultrasound
  • Thyroid scan/uptake
  • Parathyroid ultrasound
  • Adrenal gland MRI
  • Pituitary MRI
  • Thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal gland biopsy
  • Nuclear medicine scans of the thyroid and parathyroid
  • Thyroid ablation therapy
  • MRI brain / pituitary
